Snuppy’s Birthday Treat
LiveScience.com reported that Snuppy – the world’s first cloned dog — is to mate with Bona, another dog-clone ‘created’ last year.
As you no doubt remember, Snuppy, a lovely Afghan hound, was cloned by the now-disgraced South Korean scientist Hwang Woo-Su.
And as you may also remember, the 25th of April is his birthday. Last year I wished Snuppy for his birthday that his people would let him breed! And now, in his 2nd year, this wish is to come true! Gggrwooof! Happy Belated Birthday Snuppy boy!
The mating of Snuppy and Bona is intended to test whether clones can viably produce offspring. If they can the results will be truly handsome, as they are both quite fine looking dogs of the houndish persuasion. (And it’s likely that they can. Cats can! Copy Cat, the first cloned cat, had kittens last year.)
