Q: What is Northport, Alabama famous for?
Hint: It has nothing to do with the songs about this county, or even all the notables in the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame….

A: Northport Alabama is famous for its small community of artists and artisans, and in particular, their distinctive giant statue of a red dog.
Evidently in this town in the southern States of America local artists have created a thriving little art community.
And wouldn’t you know it?! They’ve made a huge red dog their artistic ‘mascot.’
The Huge Red Dog has been recently joined by a Huge Red Fire Ant. Go figure!
If You Happen to be in Alabama:
Directions: From I20/59, take the 359 spur north into Tuscaloosa. Continue through downtown Tuscaloosa on Lurleen Wallace Blvd., which will take you over the Black Warrior River. Then take the exit to downtown Northport. Rice Mine Rd., which turns into 5th St., brings you into downtown. When you reach Main Ave., turn right and park at the Kentuck Art Gallery. Clear enough?
