A big huge superWoof to Charlie, a border collie Dorset Search Dog who saved the life of an elderly woman a week ago. Pauline Muggleton, who is in her late seventies, fell when walking her own dog, Goldie, on Saturday afternoon. After the fall she was unable to get up — and ended up lying on the ground in thick undergrowth during the freezing weather. Awooo!
Her husband John called the police when she didn’t return as night fell and the temperature dropped. Happily Charlie was quickly on the scene, and once he spotted Goldie, the Muggleton’s seven-year old retriever-cross, he led the search team to Pauline.
When she was found in the early hours the next morning she was close to death from exposure. Mr Muggleton, also 77 and a town councillor, says Charlie the Search Dog saved his wife’s life. He also praised Goldie, the family pooch, for staying by Pauline’s side for hours and hours in the chilly weather.
