Brooklyn Pooch Foils Mugger

A brave Brooklyn dog earned a reputation for being a hero when he chased a purse-snatcher, foiling the mugger’s attempt to steal a purse.

Tim, a handsome 85 pound, 3-year-old German shepherd with a kindly demeanor, was taking his evening constitutional perambulation with his two-legged companion Nancy Peterson when a man walked by with what appeared to be a thick gold chain concealed under his jacket.

Then they heard a woman behind them, screaming and crying out against the purse snatcher.

“I don’t know how, but I knew he had stolen something from the woman.” And then Peterson got mad.

So Peterson and Tim raced off after the mugger. Tim made a big hallaballoo what with his barking and straining on the lead. Afraid for his life, the young man dropped the item — the “gold chain” turned out to be the handle of the woman’s bag that he had just snatched — to the sidewalk and started running. He managed to get away unapprehended.

“The woman was so, so happy,” said Peterson. And Tim, the superdog? Well, he walked home and had an otherwise normal evening. Awoof!
