You remember my foiled trip to Battersea Park, where a Dog’s Walk of Fame has been started.
We couldn’t find the stars! Even though the feet and I managed to get successfully to the Bandstand. We looked around, we saw the fountains, had a hot chocolate, and went to look around again. With no luck. We asked other dogs and two-legged dog companions. It was a mystery.
The whole thing bugged little feet. She was determined to find out what had happened. (And first checked with a quick google search that she really had seen other news articles on the Doggie Walk of Fame). So she called up the Parks office at Battersea…
Yes. There are stars to the dogs. Yes — the dog walk of fame and stars are to be found at the Bandstand. But the stars are on the benches — not in the pavement (as you might expect for golden paw awards for excellence in the film industry — awoof!)
And it turns out, although there were meant to be more stars installed, in the end there’s only one star. Seems there’s some problem with the supplier of the dog stars.
At which point the Battersea Parks’ official suggested I get in touch with the Kennel Club to investigate further, as they were the party responsible for maintaining and installing the Dog Walk of Fame.
Ggrwoof! So we’ll just have to go back to Battersea some time, which would not be any great burden, as Battersea is a lovely park with lots of variation in environment: there’s fountain gardens, the Thameside embankment, flower beds, the temple of the golden Buddhas, semi-tropical gardens and paths, benches, sculpture installations, etc., etc. Hey! There’s even a zoo!
So get thee to Battersea to pay hommage to the Doggie Walk of Fame.
