SuperWoof Travelodge!

05 Mar 08

Sophie Borland of the Telegraph reported today that dogs travelling to Crufts and staying at Travelodges will be given their own king sized beds. Awooof!

Crufts, the world’s largest dog show — confirmed by Guinness World Record holder status! - opens in Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre on Thursday. Thousands upon thousands of two- and four-leggeds will be making their way to Birmingham over the next couple of days.

For those who wish to stay close to the centre for the duration of the four-day event, Travelodge has kindly announced that it will offer all dogs attending Crufts with king sized peds, complete with mattreseses (what bed isn’t, but anyway..), pillow and duvet, in addition to the less luxurious standard dog baskets. Wonderfully woofy news!

When I was recently on my spring vacation I had the pleasure to stay at a Travelodge and at a Days Inn in the Lake District and in Scotland, both of which welcomed me, Archibald Esquire, to use the rooms — with the proviso that the feet didn’t abandon me in the room on my own. The feet, being devoted to yours truly, of course had in tow our own luxurious bedding (just so’s I felt at home and all that), but it is rather nice to know that Travelodge also supplies dog baskets for the less organised of two-leggeds out there in the world.

Travelodge has announced that it is expecting more than 300 dogs and their two-legged companions into their lodgings over the course of Crufts.

Leigh McCarron, the Travelodge sleep director said: “Crufts is a big occasion in the dog calendar and we want to acknowledge the importance of this event.” “Therefore we have extended our range of pooch beds to ensure our two- and four-legged customers get their beauty sleep in order to look and feel their best for the big occasion.” Sweet of them, no?!

SuperWoof to Travelodge! I hope all dogs travelling to this pawfully privileged event have happy travels!
