The Doncaster Free Press reported that the intrepid pair walked from the west to east coast of England are were set to complete their journey on this past Bank Holiday Monday.

The charity has special meaning for Mathew as his family were personally affected by heart disease and lost both his grandparents and his father to heart disease. Prior to this big adventure, Mathew has taken part in the BHF walk in Bawtry Forest.

Half-way through the walk Mathew said that “It’s been fantastic and both me and Cassy are loving it. She’s been fine although she’s limping a bit by the end of the day and is glad to have a rest when I pitch the tent.”

“It is definitely better doing a walk of this length with Cassy rather than on my own. I think I’m the only person up here on this route with a dog and it attracts quite a lot of comment from other walkers,” said Mathew, who works at a care home in Bircotes.
