This lovely painting was done by Alexander Millar. Millar was born in 1960 in the small mining community of Springside, a few miles from Kilmarnock.

In 1976 Millar left school and moved to Newcastle where, after a number of different jobs, he finally settled down in 1988 to become a professional artist. He is self taught and had one of his paintings chosen as a finalist in the Daily Mail’s “Not the Turner Prize.”
