Dogs are an important part of the economy - no two bones ’bout it! So superWoof to Brighton, who have collectively realised the power of the pooch. There was an Easter rally - a ‘Doggy Easter Parade’ - to clamour and campaign for more Brighton businesses to welcome dogs onto their premises.

More than 30 banner-waving two-legged dog-lovers and their four-legged furry companions marched along Brighton seafront in support of canine rights.

The aim was to campaign for businesses to welcome dogs on to their premises. The parade was organised by the Metrodeco tea shop in Kemp Town. Co-owner Maggie Morgan urged the city to relax its attitude “to having dogs in cafes, bars and in public places”.

“A more dog-friendly city would be good for tourism at a time when we are recovering from recession,” she said. No doubt it will be super-good for local dogs too!

“And it would be fairer on the vast majority of dogs-owners who are respectful of others and whose pets are perfectly well-behaved.”

SuperWoof Brighton! I’ll be down to the seaside resort as soon as I can.
