A good sign, from one trusty dog to another.

I particularly like this dog sign…

Perhaps because it leaves you mystified as what to expect. A clown dog? A dog that won’t step on cracks in the pavement? Strange? Strange in what way?

Enigmatic, but still, I like it.

Not your average ‘drive slowly’ sign.
But likeable nonetheless. Perhaps in part because simply reading it forces you to slow down.
Subtle, yet silly all the same.

Travelling hounds should always do their homework. Awoof! And a little digging in the world-wide-web usually gives some indication of whether a particular place or culture is friendly and open (or not!) towards all things doggish.
Hhhmmmnnn… Where to start?

As cute as this dog sign is… — and you’d have to admit it’s pretty cute, with the sharp dog and the pretty little flower — … the mes-sage is no fun at all: no dogs off leash.

The most important Puppyheart rule is to let your dachshund know you love them.
Each day. Awoof! Every day. Awoof! All days. SuperWoof! The same applies of course to any other type of dog — beagles, basset hounds, salukis, etc.

Now this is my kind of dog sign!
Notice it’s not an injunction not to do something, but rather, announces a fact.
And I proclaim that I want to see more like it!

Apparently dogs around the world can read. And not just Dutch dogs.
This sign, posted in British Columbia, Canada, is plainly written for the attention of two-leggeds and four-leggeds alike.
Presumably, in order to comply with federal bilingual regulations, the sign should be in English, French, and Dog. Awoof! Ouaf! Grrwwoof!

This one reminds me of my investigations into riding dogs. If I remember right, I stumbled across a video-clip of a Japanese dalmatian riding a bicycle… And a few other strange instances of ‘riding dogs.’
This sign is more than just a little zany!

I read a letter in the paper the other day that made me think. ‘Cause it’s easy to see those ‘Babies On Board’ signs that are so ubiquitous on cars and think - So what, Awoof! But some generous-spirited soul wrote in to a newspaper and kindly pointed out that the signs are meant to alert emergency workers that just because they don’t see somone in the back seat doesn’t mean they shouldn’t check to see…. Which stands to reason, no?

So when I saw this sign - intended for the very same purpose for firemen and the like, I thought I’d take time to recommend such a feature to all animal-companions out there. The only little change I’d make is to leave a space for the name/s of the people living there, two-leggeds and four-leggeds alike….
Awoof! Stay Safe. Archie.
